Giving Back to Protect the Nest!

As many of you know there is a charity very near and dear to my heart, Sparrow's Nest.  Sparrow's Nest was founded by a good friend of mine, Krista Jones.  This amazing charity cooks and delivers two trays of food to families who have been stricken with cancer in the Hudson Valley.

On November 6th over 100 runners from our Hudson Valley will travel to Disney to run in the Disney Wine and dine 1/2 marathon to raise money for Sparrow's Nest. I am once again humbled to be the videographer for this event and all events that Sparrow's Nest is a part of.

Complete Control

This past Saturday the Beacon Bulldogs played their last regular season game visiting Lincoln High School in Yonkers. From the opening kickoff the Bulldogs were in complete control of this game shutting out Lincoln 39-0. The offense and defense and special teams were all working. The Bulldogs will now travel to Somers High School Friday night to play the Tuskers in the first round of the playoffs for 2016----GO BULLDOGS!!

Winning the Battle This Week!

An amazing end to this weeks Beacon Bulldogs Varsity Football game. Taking on the visiting Byram Hills Bobcats in a game riddled with more penalties than anyone could ever expect, the Bulldogs never gave up. With their back against the wall after missing 2 extra point conversions, the Bulldog defense forced a late fumble with less than 2 minutes on the clock and then intercepted Byram Hills on their final "Hail Mary" attempt to grab a huge 26-21 victory. A Day of Remembrance September 11, 2001. 15 Years Later

I was truly honored to be able to cover 3 separate "9-11" ceremonies this year. Sunday morning started off at James Baird State Park with Sparrow's Nest charity holding a ceremony for all the heroes right before they began their annual Superhero 5K run to raise money to feed families of those stricken with cancer. After that I attended the Town of Beekman's ceremony at their "9-11" memorial behind Town Hall. Thank you to the Beekman Fire Department. The City of Beacon also had a memorial ceremony at Patriot Park. Thanks to American Legion and VFW Post for organizing the ceremony and thanks to Kari Lahey for covering the videography. It is truly hard to believe that fifteen years have past since this heinous and outrageous attack was cowardly carried out. It reminds us of a time in our recent history when our Country was united and we were all working together

Bringing Local Information to the Public

A large part of Video Ventures monthly work is covering City and Town Board meetings and posting those videos to local Cable Access TV as well as Municipalities web pages and of course social media. We provide an avenue for residents of these municipalities to get important information of what transpires at their government meetings each month. We like to thank all the residents who send us emails thanking us for the work we do to keep everyone informed. In addition we are hired to cover special events in these municipalities such as ribbon cuttings, Spirit days, sporting events as well as anniversary celebrations. Spotlight Service---High School Sports Highlight Demo!

As we all know, playing high school sports is extremely competitive.  However, collegiate athletics is in a league all of its own.  In order to stand out in an ever growing field of players, it is imperative to have a superior, high-quality individual demo. 

Here at Video Ventures, we are proud to be able to offer this service to our players.  Each year we produce a significant number of demos and our success rate continues to accelerate.  Those who have utilized our demos, have not only gotten into the college of their choice, but have also received scholarships to play for that particular team.

We go above and beyond simply handing our clients a DVD.  What we do is produce a full 4-6 minute highlight reel and incorporate it into the athletes own Vimeo channel.  This enables any coach, recruiter or scout, with a swift click of the mouse, to access the demo, game footage and a full sports biography. The average highlight demo has 25 to 30 clips and ranges in price from $300-$500.  Costs will vary depending on the amount of editing needed.

Honoring Our Veterans on Memorial Day 2016

It was an honor once again this year to cover two Memorial Day ceremonies in Dutchess County. Despite threatening weather,  the City of Beacon held their parade along Main Street and concluded with a ceremony at the Memorial Building. The Town of Beekman held their ceremony indoors at Beekman Town Hall. It is always a proud time to remember our Veterans for without them we would not enjoy the freedoms we have in the Country of ours!

Dance Recital Season Begins!

As we have wound down our Lacrosse season this past week we now open the door to our season of covering dance recitals all over Westchester, Dutchess, Orange and Putnam Counties. It is a great feeling to capture these special memories for the dancers and their families. Today we start with "Peggy Izzo-The Dance Workshop" annual recital at the Tarrytown Music Hall. This is our 5th year covering this recital. We follow every weekend in June with a host of recitals. Good luck to all the dancers!

Section 1 Lacrosse Championships Wednesday

As the playoffs now reach the final games we have some great match ups scheduled for this Wednesday. In the Class A final it will be a repeat with Lakeland/Panas taking on Mamaroneck. We have covered Mamaroneck for the last 6 years and always find ourselves in the championship game. These 2 teams are very familiar with each other and both come off impressive semi-final wins Saturday. Mamaroneck defeated Mahopac 14-9 while Lakeland/Panas stormed back from 3 goals down to defeat Scarsdale 11-7.

In our other covered games Saturday, Bronxville capitalized on several Briarcliff mistakes to eliminate the Bears 5-3 and move on to another repeat championship game against Pleasantville last years Class C champion. And in Class B John Jay Cross River showed their power and they defeated Rye 13-3 to advance to the Class B championship game against Yorktown. All championship games will once again be held at White Plains High School this Wednesday. The quest to a State title continues!

The March to a State Championship Continues

As our coverage of the Section 1 Class A, B, & C High School lacrosse continues, we have 3 teams remaining with their sights on a State Championship. First congrats go out to Irvington Boys, Harrison Boys and the Briarcliff Girls who's seasons have ended. We are looking forward to continuing our video coverage in the 2017 season.

We now turn our attention to our remaining teams. Saturday Mamaroneck will host Mahopac in a return Class A semi-final battle. These teams have met the last 3 seasons with Mamaroneck gaining the victory---it will be a great game! In Class B action Rye will travel to John Jay Cross River in a semi-final battle. Finally in Class C the Briarcliff Bears will host 3 time state champions Bronxville in an epic battle. Briarcliff defeated Bronxville a few weeks ago in triple overtime 4-3. Playoff Lacrosse Begins!

Tomorrow will mark the end of the regular season for all our Lacrosse teams. It has been an extremely busy year as we added 2 more teams to our coverage for a total of 8. Monday will begin our second season with Section 1 playoffs beginning in Class A, B, and C schools. A very exciting time as each game is a "win or go home" element. We wish all of our teams good luck with the end goal being a State Championship. Thank you to my great crew who has been holding down the fort all season. 2016 Lacrosse Season in Full Swing!

The 2016 Lacrosse season has proved to be our busiest ever. With the addition of the Briarcliff Girls and the Harrison Boys Varsity teams we now provide video service for 8 Lacrosse programs in Section 1 totaling over 100 games this year. Not only does our video provide the coaches and players a chance to view their games and learn and improve, we can also produce individual player videos for college recruitment.
